Check out this clip from the 2005 Gazet van Antwerpen race at Loenhout. Petr Dlask and Nys are working together to chase down Gerben de Knegt and Enrico Franzoi. The course almost looks like a BMX track with lots of rollers, berms, and speed. From what I can tell there isn’t much room for passing.
One section of the course has a huge ditch, about one large bike length wide and several feet deep. Watch how Nys jumps the ditch staying on his bike, and how Dlask dismounts at speed. It is amazing how Dlask keeps his momentum through the dismount, run, and remount. In the end Nys ends up gaining a second or so by staying on his bike, but only a very small percent of racers can handle their bike that well.
I wonder if Dlask found a sponsor yet…?

very Nice Brian!!! I will be checking regularly… Good luck this weekend
Eric Tonkin did that race too and was saying: you can not really tell on the video but, the approach to that tiny ditch is crazy hard.
Especially trying to keep your speed to get over it, diving into that corner on wet grass and then doing a quick set up for the jump takes world class talent.
Apparently no one else was hopping it.
Sure, you could keep up with Nys by running it but, after 10 laps of spending extra energy there while he is keeping something in reserve…
OMG!! That’s nuts!! Wish we had cross courses like that in the US!
Dlask is riding for Fidea this season.
