Cyclocrossworld.com has an interesting article about a three day “World Cup Cyclocross Festival” planned for October, 2008. The announcement follows on the heels of the recent cancellation of the 2007 World Cup cross in Providence, RI. Richard Fries, one of the promoters of the festival, comments on the 2007 race: “To have muscled it through this year would have risked longer term support”.
The event promoter reportedly has a verbal agreement from a fortune 500 sponsor and the event will cost roughly $500,000 to produce. GSD promotions is organizing the event which apparently stands for “Getting Shit Done”, so let’s hope they get this shit done! Read the full article.
