Day one in the cave.

ad_scx_vert.jpgStarcrossed has stepped up and offered up a free race entry or four free admissions to September’s Pain Cave photo winner. If you live in the Pacific Northwest and haven’t been to Starcrossed you are really missing out. I’ve participated as a racer, and as a spectator and it’s always worth the drive. Riding too fast over the sketchy euro pedestrian bridge makes you feel like you are right in Belgium.

Since Starcrossed is on the 22nd, the September winner will be chosen on September 20th.

Here’s some of today’s amazing photos. More will be posted this weekend.

The above submissions were from Chris Brandt, Mark Legg, Dan Coy, and Brooke Hoyer. More to come. Submit your photos via email to paincave @ race.cx

Schwalbe Racing Ralph FMB Tubulars

I got this picture txt from Molly this afternoon. Custom FMB cyclocross tubulars with a Schwalbe Racing Ralph tread. The tread was cut off of a standard pair of ralphs and glued to a 34 FMB pro cotton casing. The bright white side walls are made of a latex puncture resistant compound. Hott!!

The Pain Cave

Announcing the pain cave, a monthly cyclocross photography contest. Submit photos you’ve taken of people deep in the ditch of pain. Bring your 35mm, snap-n-shoot, polaroid, cameraphone, or whatever you can get your hands on to the races. The winner will get a sweet prize! We’re looking for the best gritty, gnarly, spinach in the teeth close ups out there.

We’ll post ‘em as they come in and then vote at the end of the month. The contest starts right now! If you’ve got some photos from years past, submit them now. We’ll choose the first winner at the end of September.

Submit photos via email to paincave @ race.cx

Interested in sponsoring the contest? Got some Zipp tubulars or swag you’d like the monthly winner to receive? email brian @ race.cx

Join the race.cx group on velog.org

Velog.org front pageCheck it out. Velog is a really simple social network and training log for cyclists. It’s a like having a mini blog just for logging your rides. As cyclocross season approaches you can use it to keep track of your training rides, monitor your progress, and compare your activity with that of your friends.

Race.cx now has a group on velog which you can join. It’s neat because you can see who the other race.cx readers are, where they are from, and what they are riding. Also, if you join the group, your rides will show up right here on the race.cx sidebar. You can see it to the right, just underneath the “asides” section. If you have your own blog or website, you can add your own personal velog to it just like I’m doing with the race.cx group here.

Velog.org chartsAlso, to stimulate your competitive side, velog let’s you graph your ride data against friends and other riders. The picture to the left shows my hours over the last week compared with some of my friends.
